Frugalista Find: Norma Kamali Jumpsuit

I thought I'd share with you a quick find from the Norma Kamali Collection at Walmart.  This collection, for me, has been my answer to casual chic.  I am girl who never has an issue dressing up, but casual always seems to take so long to put together something together that is not a ball gown or my gym sweats.   This jumpsuit is perfect. It is comfortable, cute, versitle, and only $22 bucks!!! The sizes range from 1X to 4X.  I know I am putting my business out there...LOL...but my jumpsuit is a 4X.  I bought it in that size because I was unsure of the sizing and my lower body.  I could have went down a size, the jumpsuit is rather roomy.  (For my non plus readers, the jumpsuit is available for you also starting at an XS at $15).

Outfit Logistics
Shoes:  ShoeDazzle $40
Pin:  Banana Republic $18 (I bought it on clearance, but did find it elsewhere for $99)
Belt: Michael Kors from TJMaxx $40

I am defninetly not a big WalMart shopper, but I always randomly check the Norma Kamali Collection for new pieces.  And more recently, they have decided to offer the line in plus sizes.  Have you bought anything from this colleciton, if so, what?  I love Norma Kamali for WalMart, what do you think about the line. Ooooo Oooo and one more thing, shipping for Walmart is 97 cents per item!!!

Texas Style Council OOTD: Stripes & Polka Dots

This weekend I attended the Texas Style Council Conference.  Today's outfit came from the last day of the event, Sunday, which had the bulk of the activities, speakers, etc.

Outfit Logistics

Jacket - Lane Bryant (at least 2 years old) $50
Dress - JIBRI $150
Clutch - Jane Ivey Plain (Austin, TX Boutique) $54
Necklace 1:  Liz Claiborne $15
Necklace 2:  Lane Bryant (6 yrs old..lol) - $15
Shoes:  ShoeDazzle $40
Belt - Michael Kors at TJMaxx $40

The highlights of the conference, for me, were:

  • Meeting the founder of ModCloth, Susan.  I totally love ModCloth and have hearted them for years.  I have also seen them slowly integrate some plus sizes.  I was totally excited to know that they were interested in plus size and I even discussed some of my reader's concerns with the size chart.  Susan explained that the sizes are more Jr's plus sizes.  The great news is that they will be expanding their plus with a size chart that is more comparable to the what us 'standard' plus girls can wear and fit.
Susan (founder) & Turi (I totally adore her braids) - ModCloth
  • Dishing with Tina from TminusTplus, Reiko from God's Favorite Shoes, Julie from Rosy + Tart, Sara from FitFashionFoodie.  Sara, Tina, & Julie taught me that men can be taught to clean up after themselves (hey...I didnt know it was possible) and some methods for getting them to do so.  After a long drive back from Austin I came home a sink full of dirty dishes and piles of clothing on the floor...I think Im getting a little steamed thinking about it.  Although, I don't mind doing the bulk I am NOT the maid.  So needless to say...we will be having a chat and the training will begin! I am open to other tips if anyone else has any...lol.
Some of the bloggers I 'kicked' it with (I working on my slang for cool points):  TminusTPlus, Rosy + Tart, FitFashionFoodie, God'sFavoriteShoes, Dress with Courage

  • I got to admire some amazing bloggers - Elissa from Dress with Courage - she is such a cool mom, I hope I can be as cool as her when I am a mom - she always looks fly (another cool point) and I have yet to see her in mom jeans...LOL.  Asma from Haute Mulimah - she brings such a totally different, but equally as fabulous angle for fashion.  No matter how different we think we are...we are reallllllyyyyy similar. And she's really pretty...LOL.
  • I was introduced to Texas Tea...lol
  • SWWWWWAAAAAGGGGG!

Sponsors included:  TIKKR watches, Lulus.com, Discount Creative, ShopStrut.com, Pinkkissies.com and more. Ooooh and I was so excited to pick up a total of 3 new reusable shopping bags!!!

I picked up a cute little necklace from Lulus.com (a sponsor) and wanted to do a mini giveaway for my readers.  I will choose the winner Friday.  You can enter up to 3/17/11 11:59pm.  All you need to do to enter is be a follower and comment your name and email address.

Look out for one more post on the weekend.  I wanted to divide it up because it would be too much to put into one post.  Next post I will go in depth of the weekend and the activities and why I will be going back next year!

A fish called MonifC

MonifC returns again with swimsuits for the curvy girl.  I credit MonifC for offering the most stylish swimsuits that the plus size woman has every seen.  The designs seem to have really thought about the curvy figure and what cuts would look best on the body.  She even offers a 2 bikini that curvy women can realistically pull off.  What I love most about the bikini is that is designed in the same fashion of the retro suntops of the 60s.  It gives great coverage, but at the same time a lot of sexy!

And if your are too shy for the bikini, the monaco give a hint of bikini with all the coverage.

I don't want to forget about my frugalistas.  I recently purchased a swimsuit from Norma Kamali for Walmart.  Its very chic and super flattering.  The sizes go up to a 3X and is only $21.  I read some reviews saying that the suit is for the small busted.  So note that in case you decide to order.  I tried on mine and it was perfect for me.

I think I will pick up the Monaco this year.  Which one are you eyeing for you summer time fun?

DFW Blogger Meetup

I attended the DFW Blogger meetup coordinated and hosted by Kileen of Cute & Little (which is like the perfect way to describe her).  I guess you might say this is my first real blogger meetup.   I literally did not know anyone, which was the best part.  I was so excited to meet such a wonderful group of fabulous ladies.  Everyone had their own style, but they were definitely all flawless and fabulous.  Most of the attendees were fashion and lifestyle blogs with sprinkles of celebrity blogging.

Pictured with Irene from Pink Hearted Princess

Here is my outfit for the DFW Bloggers Day:

JIBRI leopard skirt - $70 (sorry guys print no longer available, but I plan on getting one in blk)
Kenley Collins silk top (remember the Project Runway designer) - $12 orginally $200 from Boutique Larrieux
Talbots Purple Cardigan - Thrifted - $25 I think...
French Connection Suede Pink Belt - $24
ShoeDazzle Nude Flats (you'll see in the other pics) - $39
Banana Republic Silk Scarf  - $18

We dined at Cibus in North Park Mall.  I only had the water because I came in late.  I had a lost wallet situation.  I found it, but I rather not explain my "airhead" moment.

In order from left to right:  Angga from Reserverade Fashion, Ivonne from Ivonne Stacy Style, Eliss from Dress with Courage, and fellow fatshion blogger, Tina from TminusTplus

Stephanie from Beauty & Gardens, Jessica from Splediferious Inclinations, PV from FabFashFinds, Tasha from Imperfect Concepts, Charis from MizzScoop, LaMirica from Fashionably L8, Katy from Be Pretty Think Pretty,  Jen from Blank White Friends

The hostess, Kileen, from Cute & Little

The second half of the day was spent at the Dior make up counter in Dillards.  The day included a complimentary makeover and a $25 giftcard with Dior purchase.  The ladies of Dior where super nice and accommodating.  I honestly didn't even know Dior had a makeup and skin care line suprisingly enough.  Theh ladies were so thorough and gave great information on the skincare and makeup line.

I personally purchased the Dior Diorskin AirFlash for $60.  I have pretty nice skin, but I wanted to have a foundation that my blush and eyeshadow can adhere to.  I must say this product is wonderful.  It acts as a foundation and has good coverage, (some of the girls had rosiness in their faces and it covered it up), its light and airy, and is easy to put on.   You can either spray it on or spray it on your brush (its takes no longer than 10 secs to put on).    I was also really impressed with the Skin Boosting Super Serum which retails for $95.  I brought back some samples to try to see how it works after a few days to see how it works before I buy.  Keep posted I hope to do a post on these products.  I was just impressed by the whole Dior line.
