Outfit of the Day: Engagment Pictures and eShakti

I decided to pick up a sundress from eShakti for our  engagement pictures, since they were supposed to be casual and fun.   I saw that Nikstarr reviewed the same dress earlier this week and I can agree with her that the dress runs a little big, so ladies size down one from your normal size.  I kept having to pull mine up.  But overall I liked the dress.  I also opted for the $7.50 customization in which I took the dress from a thin strapped dress to a halter.  You really can't beat that.  This was a really simple day.  I paired the sundress with a pair of sandals from Ann Taylor (org. price $79 on sale for $20) and my clip on faux pearl earrings, for those of us who don't have pierce ears.   I hope you like, I thought our pictures came out really nice.  I used photographer Bill Kratt here in Dallas, who was very nice, easy to work with, very affordable, and even offers mild airbrushing at no additional cost.  These are the are actually pre-airbrushed pictures, but I thought they were nice just the same.  Brian, my fiance, looks so cute I just want to put him in my pocket...LOL.

Pinching the dimples I fell in love with:)

It is so hard for me to not giggle.

Oh I almost forgot...you can recieve 10% off your purchase at eShakti by using code garnerstyle123.  Enjoy!

Qrystl Frazier...I think I'll Pass

So I kind of been going back in forth in my head on Qrystl Frazier designs and whether or not to blog on....really because I have nothing positive to say about it.  It seems that bloggers have been muting their true opinions on some of these plus size clothes that are substandard in the industry for fear of not being sought out for sponsorship of free clothes, sponsorship, or whatever.  I said screw it...I'll do what I want...LOL.  I know I am setting my self up for the attack.

Qrystl Frazier has been on Rip the Runway for several years and Project Runway.  Initially when I saw the line on Rip the Runway...I thought this is kind of cute and I wanted to see how Qrystl Frazier designs would grow.  Well, grow is definitely not the word I would use for her clothing.  I have seen this clothing line before the designer went to Project Runway and the clothing was poorly made with issues of unfinished seams, strings hanging off the merchandise, and holes in the clothing.  Almost 4 years later I saw Qrystl Frazier Designs again at FFF Week and I saw clothing that was not finished, specifically sleeves that were cut and the edges were not finished.  The designs did look better.  So I guess that is one positive.  In addition recently, I have viewed QFD clothing in a boutique with holes in the seams.  I was thinking because of this designer's recent appearance on project runway I assumed  that the show would have a positively influence the construction and the style aesthetic. Again, I was disappointed.

In my opinion, these clothes are definitely not worth the money.  Prices start at around $175 to over $400.

This dress was actually cute.  It was on the runway on FFF Week, but the edge of the sleeves were left unfinished.  Even though the dress is cute I cannot see myself paying over $200 for a dress that is not completely finished.

Save My Feet From Bleeding Shoes!

Not a post greatly related to fashion, but I had to share this great find.  How many of us have walked, no probably limped, away from barefoot (ewww) the night club of our choice because our pumps have murdered our feet.  I have on numerous occasions said to my BFF, "I think my feet are bleeding."  I don't know if Im late, but I have never seen these before.  They are called Spare Soles available on the Fresh Ayer, a boutique in Philly, website.   I thought these were the neatest idea, a pare of shoes that you can slip on at the end of the night and if you are on you last leg, or foot for the matter, that are small enough to fit in your cutest most petite clutch.  They range at a very affordable $23 - $30 and can be any girl's lifesaver.

These are definitely a must have for any stiletto wearing stylista!  Oh, and don't forget to enter the Jibri Dress Giveaway, entries accepted until Sept. 15.

The Golden Afternoon - Galliano for Dior

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite stories...my favorite seen being The Golden Afternoon in the Disney movie.  When I saw Dior's Fall/Winter Collection - It made me think of what The Golden Afternoon would look like in the Fall (if flowers grew in the Fall).  One of my favorite things about Dior is the ultra feminine details almost to the point of over abundance, but pulls back just in time to not go overboard.

The Golden Afternoon

Dior's Haute Couture
Fall Winter 2010/11

While I view this collection, as people think they what is offered in plus sizes is great.  This reminds me of what is missing.   There is a vast lack of innovation,  creativity, and RISK!  Yes we have a designer here and there that step up to the plate of innovation, but to be honest they are few and far in between.  I see the "creme de la creme" of fatshionistas (bloggers mainly) adorning themselves with accessories, shoes, and DIY projects and we don't even come close to being able to create such a look if they wanted to.  Where is the justice?  I can hand it to Christina from Musings of a Fatshionista because I can say she does her creativity allows her to create looks that look very much inspired by the runway.

As I go to bed a little bitter (b/c I want that blue coat) - I hope to dream of Dior dresses dancing in my head.

New Designer - Introducing AlliStyle

I connected with this designer at FFF Week.  She handed off this eye-catching picture to me, so I looked at it and thought, "very cute," and tucked it away with the rest of the cards I got from FFF Week (and believe me it was a lot).  I found the picture a few days ago and it really caught my eye.  I want to introduce you to AlliStyle.   Although the pieces are very simple, they do "pop" in their simplicity.  The price range is from $59 - $118.  The sizes only go up to a size 20, which if I get a chance I will ask does the designer plan to go up any higher.  The material content does include spandex, so I am sure the clothes can accommodate a person a little larger in size.  There are only 5 pieces, but was informed by the designer that there are some soon to come this Fall.  I am very interested to see what else this designer will be doing for the upcoming season.

Tell me what you think of this new line?

So Over Summer --- Ladan's Closet

I've been over Summer for about 2 weeks now and it really just begun 2 weeks ago.  I am so ready for the Fall and more than anything I am ready to be inspired by the season's newest pieces and styles.  I just caught a glimpse of what LaDan's Closet was offering this Winter in the form of coats.  Many of the coats they are offering were offered last year - but this year there are more colors available in the previously offered styles.

But the one new style that I am absolutely in love with is the Vintage Long Cape.  In whatever city/town you live in there is no doubt that you will be turning heads!  On the higher end of things for plus sizes this coat retails for $415.00.  But you can assure this is a coat that you will have for years and that will never go out of style!

Here are some more of Ladan's Closet's Coat to look forward to:

The colder months don't look so cold with a fabulous coat.  And during the colder months having a fab coat can make your entire wardrobe!
